The Civic Trust has campaigned and worked in regeneration and urban development since 1957. It is the umbrella body for 700 Civic Societies across the country, representing 250,000 individuals concerned with all aspects of the urban environment, from planning and conservation to economic development and the evening economy. The Trust campaigns on behalf of this movement, works practically on regeneration projects in towns and cities, and encourages community engagement in the urban renaissance. As well as recognising the vital role that quality green spaces play in improving urban life, the Trust also rewards the very best architectural projects which have a positive impact on their local community, through the Civic Trust Awards. It manages Heritage Open Days, which celebrates architecture and our cultural heritage.
