Civic Trust Awards National Panel member Angela Brady is one of three candidates currently standing for election as RIBA President-Elect.

Elections will be conducted independently by Electoral Reform Services and voting will take place between 17 June and 22 July. The successful candidate will serve on Council as President-Elect from September 2010 and as President of the RIBA from September 2011-13. The two other candidates are Richard Parnaby and Roger Shrimplin.

Angela said, “If elected I will be the champion of all RIBA members. I will not be out ‘cutting ribbons of new supermarkets’ but out fighting our corner. I will try to make the RIBA of value to our members. I have campaigned all of my professional life - on environment issues, saving loved buildings, increasing women and diversity in our profession, standing up for better design locally and nationally, and promoting sustainability to the public. I have set up international networks and organized exhibitions worldwide to promote our architects and our profession. In the past 20 years I have been involved in some of the best professional advisory panels in the UK which are architectural, political, educational and in design review.

Angela has the backing of some of the industry’s leading figures including Sir Terry Farrell, Lord Rogers, Piers Gough, Nicole Crockett, Kim Wilkie, Geoffrey Wilson, Sunand Prasad, Jack Pringle, Chris Wilkinson, Julia Barfield, Dickon Robinson, Clare Devine, Jeremy Till, Jane Duncan, John Leatherland, David Porter, Paul Keogh PRIAI and over 170 more RIBA members.

Civic Trust Awards Managing Director Malcolm Hankey said “It is clear that Angela is held in high esteem by her colleagues and contemporaries. Having know her for a number of years, she certainly has the necessary drive, enthusiasm and commitment to make an excellent RIBA President.”

RIBA members are currently casting their votes - good luck to all three candidates.
