Civic Trust AwardsChris Wilkinson OBE RA, Principal of Wilkinson Eyre Architects, has been appointed to the role of Design Patron for the Civic Trust Awards.
Wilkinson Eyre has won over 120 national and international design awards including the RIBA Stirling Prize for two consecutive years in 2001 and 2002 and his latest submission to the Civic Trust Awards, the Arena and Convention Centre in Liverpool, won a Special Award for Evening Economy in 2009.
Chris was awarded the OBE in the Millennium Honours for his services to Architecture, elected to the Royal Academy in 2006 and made an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 2007. Chris was also recently appointed as Commissioner for English Heritage.
In response to his appointment, Chris said “I am delighted to continue my long association with the Civic Trust Awards which have done so much to improve the quality of the built environment. These awards help to link good design with the local communities in a very positive and beneficial way.”

The application round for the 2010 awards is now open and entries can be submitted on line via the website www.civictrustawards.org.uk. The closing date is Wednesday 16th September 2009.
