Civic Trust AwardsThe 53rd annual Civic Trust Awards Ceremony will be held in Edinburgh on Friday 2nd March 2012, supported by The City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh World Heritage and the Edinburgh Convention Bureau.
The prestigious event will see hundreds of leading international architects and built environment professionals gather in the City for a gala dinner and awards presentation. The Civic Trust Awards, established in 1959, celebrates the best in architecture, urban design, planning, landscape, public realm and public art projects that are sustainable, accessible to all users and make a difference to local communities by providing the design and facilities which have made better places for people.
The event will be preceded by a series of guided walking tours for attendees, providing a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy exploring the city’s medieval Old Town and Georgian New Town, which together form the Edinburgh World Heritage Site, and the port of Leith where the former Royal Yacht Britannia is permanently berthed.
Malcolm Hankey, Civic Trust Awards Managing Director said “We are delighted to be able to take the Civic Trust Awards Ceremony to Scotland and would like to thank The City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh World Heritage and the Edinburgh Convention Bureau who have offered their full support.”
Councillor Jim Lowrie, the City of Edinburgh Council’s Planning Convenor said “I am delighted that Edinburgh has been selected to host the Civic Trust Awards Ceremony in 2012. I am certain that delegates will appreciate the quality of Edinburgh’s historic and modern architecture, and that we can provide an event of outstanding quality.”
The venue will be confirmed shortly and tickets will go on sale in January 2012.
