George Clarke, architect, writer and presenter of The Home Show on Channel 4, has become a Patron of the Civic Trust Awards scheme.

The Civic Trust Awards was established in 1959 and operates on a not-for-profit basis. The scheme has a strong reputation within the industry, recognising outstanding architecture, urban design, landscape and public art which improve the quality of life for local communities.

George says, “I’m honoured to be a Patron of the Civic Trust Awards. Successful buildings and public spaces can have an enormous effect on the everyday lives of our communities. It is so important that we continue to reward outstanding architecture in Britain and take pride in our heritage and built environment. The Civic Trust Awards does exactly that.”

George regularly attracts over 3 million viewers on The Home Show and with his popular website www.georgeclarke.co.uk he certainly has the credentials to offer a great deal of publicity and support. George is currently filming a new show for Channel 4, Restoration Man, where he saves some of the most beautiful old buildings in Britain by converting them into unique homes.

Malcolm Hankey, Managing Director of the Civic Trust Awards said “George Clarke immediately came to mind when selecting suitable Patrons of the Civic Trust Awards. He is very passionate about the way architecture can transform our everyday lives and shares our belief that architecture should be accessible to the public and be of benefit to the local community. George also has an excellent public profile, which will help us raise awareness of the scheme to a wider audience.”

The Civic Trust Awards is currently seeking financial support from sponsors, in addition to offering Corporate and Local Authority Membership packages. If you would like to lend your support or make a donation, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)or call (01925) 273170.
