English Partnerships

English Partnerships

English Partnerships is a proud sponsor of this year’s Partnership Award which has been won by Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park a heritage-led regeneration project which has successfully restored a Grade 1 listed building and developed its surrounding estate.

At English Partnerships, we believe that truly sustainable environments must have qualities that help them to be enduring and adaptable to existing and future generations, whilst being sensitive to their environmental impact and to the needs of those who will live or work in buildings and places.

Regeneration requires a strong commitment to community involvement which has consistently shown us that people enjoy living around distinctive buildings which have an interesting historical and cultural meaning; locally or nationally. We believe by supporting the renovation of existing heritage buildings and bringing them back into use - future generations can continue to enjoy and benefit from them.

The Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park Heritage Trust worked closely with the local community and other partners to successfully repair Wentworth Castle from total collapse and ruin, and enabled the safe access to the vast parks and gardens in its grounds - so the public can enjoy them. We hope others will be equally inspired by this collaborative way of working.

Charcon

Charcon

Charcon an Aggregate Industries business, is delighted to be associated with the Civic Trust as sponsor of the Hard Landscaping Award for the fifth successive year.

The regeneration and improvement of both rural and metropolitan areas continue to be immensely important for the community sense of pride and well-being they attract. The development and use of creative, practical and durable hard landscaping solutions are vital elements in the process of creating lasting sympathetic, comfortable and importantly sustainable environments.

Charcon’s aim is to encourage attractive schemes that demonstrate a unique approach to hard landscaping, with a strong emphasis on innovative design.
The Award is of special significance to Charcon in combining an appreciation of good hard landscaping design with the recognition of schemes that positively relate to their settings and the people they serve.

The current holder of the Hard Landscaping Award is the Remodelling of Old Market Square

Chris Hudson, Divisional Director, Commercial Products - Building Materials Division.

CABE

CABE

The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) is Government’s advisor on architecture, urban design and public space. CABE wants to set high aspirations for the design of streets as an integral part of the public space network. We believe that these spaces have economic, environmental and social benefits for communities. We know that the public do too: nine out of 10 people think the quality of public space affects their quality of life.

As such we are delighted to sponsor this year’s Streets Award. We see this Award as an opportunity to celebrate and learn from the very best in current street design and placemaking. The Gold Route in Sheffield demonstrates the potential of public space to turn around the image of a whole city. It underlines the need for long term vision and demonstrates the reward of interdisciplinary working from the outset.

Aggregate Industries

Aggregate Industries

Aggregate Industries has been working to be a more environmentally sustainable business for over 10 years and for five of these we have been supporting the Civic Trust as the Special Awards Sponsor for Sustainability. In those five years, in England, we have gained a Code of Sustainable Homes, a draft Sustainable Construction Strategy from BERR, numerous examples of innovation and been awarded the Olympic Games for 2012. Processes and expectations have moved some way towards providing a framework for reducing the impact on the environment of the built environment. As a founding member of UK Green Building Council, we also have taken up the challenge of dramatically changing the shape of the built environment. We support the Civic Trust Sustainability Award so that excellence can be revealed, recognised and rewarded.

The current holder of the Sustainability Award is the National Cold War Exhibition, RAF Museum Cosford

GW Bolsover, Group Chief Executive, Aggregate Industries Limited
