Benefits

Over the last 50 years, over 5,500 buildings and schemes have been awarded a prestigious Civic Trust Award. From early winners, such as public conveniences in Looe, to last year’s Award winning high technology National Cold War Museum, these schemes have been rewarded and publicly recognised.

A Civic Trust Award is not only a symbol of outstanding architecture, but a real commitment to planning, designing and creating buildings which meet the needs of real people.

Each Award winner receives a plaque, which is displayed on the Award winning building. We encourage Award winners to hold a local ceremony to promote this achievement and to recognise the organisations who were involved in the successful scheme.

All winners receive certificates, listing the organisations which were involved in the scheme.

All winners receive priority invitations to buy tickets for the Civic Trust Awards gala dinner and award ceremony, where winners are announced and presented with their plaque and certificate on stage. Over 350 built environment professionals attended the 2007 in Newcastle, where guests also enjoyed the opportunity to take a study tour of the successful regeneration of the city.

The Civic Trust Awards are well publicised, with an announcement to the press of both the shortlisted schemes and the final winners. Last year’s media coverage included regional BBC television, the Times, London Lite and the Daily Express. Planning, UK Construction, Building Design and Surveyor also featured the Awards.
