During the last 51 years, over 6,500 successful schemes from all over the UK, Ireland and more recently Europe have been awarded a prestigious Civic Trust Award. From early winners, such as public conveniences in Looe, to this year’s Award winning innovative Creative Arts Units at Aberystwyth University, projects have been rewarded and publicly recognised.
A Civic Trust Award is not only a symbol of outstanding architecture, but a real commitment to planning, designing and creating buildings which meet the needs of real people.
Each Award winner receives a cast bronze plaque, which is displayed on the Award winning scheme. We encourage Award winners to hold a local ceremony to promote this achievement and to recognise the organisations who were involved in the successful scheme.
Winning applicants also receive a framed certificate, crediting each of the organisations involved in the scheme.
The Civic Trust Awards are well publicised, with announcements to the press of both the shortlisted schemes and final winners.
In 2010 a media partnership with Emap saw Civic Trust Awards winners featured in Architects Journal and New Civil Engineer Magazine, giving winners an incredible level of national and international exposure. AJ has a magazine circulation of over 10,200 and has 110,000 unique visitors to their website each year. NCE has a readership of 57,000 and receives 71,000 unique visitors to the website each year.
The Civic Trust Awards website received over 30,000 page views in the first 7 days of the winners announcement and our quarterly newsletter is sent to over 15,000 built environment contacts.
Overall, The Civic Trust Awards are receiving an unprecedented level of exposure, surpassing anything that has ever been achieved in previous years.
