Information about this winner

This substantial addition to the library has been sensitively designed. With a new main entrance and welcoming open space, it blurs the distinction between old and new. The new extension, with its vertical stone and wood facade forms a fitting backdrop to the local park.  Internally the upper book storey is particularly successful, being naturally lit by north facing skylights as well as large windows.
