E1b SoftDesigned to accommodate an unusually shaped site, this contemporary infill scheme replaces an old piano repair shed with two city centre houses. The interesting curved roof comprises zinc with areas of oak slats forming shading over the balconies. The deeply overhanging eaves give visual strength to the roof and protection to the facades, which form a pleasing composition. Vertical screens of oak slats growing in front of the balconies are designed to support climbing plants, providing vertical gardens.
