D1e MuseumsOriginally built in 1745, the building has been derelict since 1997. This scheme has restored and rejuvenated the building to provide a focus for local people and visitors to the island of Cumbrae. With considerable community support , the garrison building now provides a museum, library, surgery and council services. Archaeologists and stone conservationists were consulted to ensure that the historic nature of the building was not lost, and the overall scheme is of considerable benefit to the community.
