Information about this winner

This flagship scheme provides a library, art gallery, exhibition space, performance hall and café, along with education facilities for schools and community groups. An extension and refurbishment project, the scheme creates some attractive internal and external spaces. The façade of the new extension is deliberately simple and regular to act as a foil for the more sculptural qualities of the original architecture. Detailing is robust and the overall ambience is pleasant and light.
