B1 BusinessThe scheme creates a new destination with a substantial group of buildings set around a new public square. A series of pedestrian routes integrates the new development with the lanes and courts which characterize the adjacent Fleet Street conservation area. The varying height of the buildings maximizes sun penetration, and the tallest is talisman of the scheme. Well detailed materials have been used to unify the diverse spaces, with dark stone “rugs” defining performance spaces and movement routes. The palate of stone, glass and steel is softened by an attractive growing green wall; just one of many pieces of sculpture which provide interest and character to the scheme. The urban regeneration project brings vitality to this area, as well as providing a new public space which makes a considerable local economic impact.
