D1f Public Library/archive/visitor centreThe result of extensive conservation work, this scheme brings back to life a Category A listed Bell Mill. The building offers an historic and educational resource, including exhibition and community spaces. The restoration captures the industrial and austere nature of the original mill, which is in a beautiful setting. Much of the original fabric is still visible, which adds to the visitor experience. Integration within the community is excellent, with schoolchildren being encouraged to work as Junior Guides.
