C2 Residential InstitutionsPart of the Dublin Docklands Masterplan, this scheme is composed of two urban blocks, enclosing private courtyards. Predominantly residential, it also houses offices and retail facilities. A high density development, the scheme provides good spaces, setting and context. It combines private and social housing, and commendably, does not differentiate between the two. The courtyards provide a quiet ambience well away from the noise of urban road traffic that surrounds the site, and are well used by residents and their children. Animation is provided by the cafes and restaurants at street level, which engage well with the community. This is a well mannered piece of architecture which provides a mixed use facility, and introduces a new way or urban living.
