D2g TheatreAn aspirational new building that acknowledges the Hull Truck Theatre Company’s forty-plus-year cultural contribution to Hull. The theatre is welcoming, open and accessible to all members of the public whilst incorporating education facilities for both the local community and professionals. The scheme comprises two main auditoria, public foyer and private back of house area, all within a concrete frame brick box envelope which reflects the brick warehouse architecture of the city. The inclusive design aspects are of a very high standard for both audience members and for visiting performers, benefiting from the early involvement of an active local access group in the design process. The management have demonstrated their commitment to the local community with a specific emphasis on the involvement of schools and disabled young people by creating a post specifically to engage disabled young people in the city.
