D1d Display of works of artA gallery dedicated to exhibiting works of botanical art from the extensive collection owned by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and from the private collection of donor Dr Shirley Sherwood. The result is a sensitive, refined, clever building that provides a place that can communicate its exibits effectively. The architecture is one that acts as a restrained unimposing back drop to the exhibitions that are displayed here. The design process clearly engaged with the staff who manage the building and the community at Kew gardens. As such it connects with the grounds, offers a secure place that can be effortlessly managed, can be used for a variety of different exhibition formats, and acts as a place to view the tremendous vistas of Kew Gardens.
