Information about this scheme

The Thameslink Programme works at Blackfriars Station required the full redevelopment of all areas of the existing station in order to provide for a significant increase in passenger capacities and train headways to services through central London. The north bank building has been designed as an open and transparent enclosing façade structure that provides a cathedral space within, providing views to both inside and outside whilst respecting the urban grain of the environment by its scale and selection of materials. The South Bank station entrance building is simply designed as a glazed elliptical structure in plan, having a minimal impact on the public river walk whilst opening up a new pedestrian route through this part of the River Walk.
