Information about this scheme

CIS Nordhavn is a new school building for Copenhagen International School, which is located on a prominent site in Copenhagen's new Nordhavn district. The school is designed to integrate with the public sphere in the urban environment, and provide age-adapted state-of-the-art learning environments in four “towers” built on top of a shared two-storey base.  Located on the site of the former container piers is part of Copenhagen’s largest urban redevelopment area, and the school is designed to play a major part in the coming new community – both as a public recreational zone offering sports facilities and leisure, as well as acting as a community centre for the future residents of the Nordhavn district.  A new metro station opening 2018 will link the school directly to Copenhagen’s efficient public transport, and the quay promenade outside the school will become an urban port-side space providing opportunities for relaxation and leisure activities.
