Information about this scheme

The five-storey buildings are a significant addition to St Antony’s estate, defining a new presence for the college on one of the main routes serving the city centre. The project comprises a new main entrance, porters’ lodge, 54 en-suite study bedrooms, offices for college staff and meeting/work space within glazed rooftop pavilions. They announce the location of the College prominently and in combination with a strong contemporary expression, the physical identity of St Antony’s has been transformed and now sits confidently amongst its peers and the North Oxford Conservation Area. The two buildings are carefully positioned in relation to two neighbouring Grade II listed buildings and the palette of materials takes precedence from the context with Cotswold stone, bronze and walnut selected for their timeless and contemporary qualities.  The buildings’ position and landscaping has been developed to respect mature trees and their continuing longevity, whilst new lime trees were further planted.
