Information about this scheme

Central to this project is the new Box Office which when closed presents a subdued frontage to the park and in use unfurls and opens out on the park, revealing a playful leaf pattern that alludes to the gilded ironwork of the Park gates. A new seating canopy curves around the southern perimeter. Surrounded by trees, small booths are formed between the structural bays that create a more intimate environment for drinking and eating. The backstage area of the theatre has been entirely rebuilt, following the sweep of the Inner Circle. The two storey block sensitively responds in plan and section to the geometry and landscape of the Grade 1 listed site. The combination of natural and dark timber on the façade complements the landscape setting, which plays a crucial role in establishing the sense of romance and theatrical magic within the wider context of Regent’s Park.
