Information about this scheme

The Built Environment, Skills and Enterprise Centre at Wirral Metropolitan College delivers a leading facility for the acquisition of technical skills, providing a local skill-base to deliver elements of the Wirral Waters masterplan over the next 30 years. The building is envisaged as an essay in construction showcasing exemplary workmanship with successful collaboration between Peel, WMC and the design team enabling the students’ curriculum to be integrated with the design and construction of the project - helping to shape their careers and creating a bright future for Birkenhead’s docks. The scheme comprises a total of 3,776m2 of floor space including gas and plumbing, electrical, painting and decorating, brick and plastering, joinery workshops as well as classrooms. Designed with an understated elegance and simplicity, the college occupies a prominent position on the water’s edge, providing a striking and clean profile in anticipation of views from future adjacent tall buildings.
