BDP supports Civic Trust Awards Archive Project
Posted on 17th April 2013
We are delighted to secure the support of BDP as one of our sponsorship partners for the Heritage Lottery Funded Built Environment Network project.
The project will see the archive data of past Civic Trust Awards winners, dating back to 1959, made available as an online searchable database. Original application materials and photos from a number of winners from the North West will be digitised and made available as part of a number of educational initiatives, which includes the retro-assessment of past winners, where visits take place to buildings and spaces given awards over the last 54 years to investigate the history and legacy of the award and whether or not the scheme has stood the test of time.
Civic Trust Awards Managing Director, Malcolm Hankey said "We are greatful to BDP for their support of our BE-Net Project. As a long standing supporter of the Civic Trust Awards, with sigificant number of wining projects over the last five decades, they are ideally placed to help support such an important initative that will bring to life a resource that will be invaluable to professionals, practitioners, students, historians and anyone with an interest in the Built Environment."
Vanessa Brown, BDP Head of Communications said "BDP is proud to sponsor the Civic Trust Awards for this new educational resource and historically significant archive of the built environment. Our first award was in 1965 and since then we have maintained a successful record of wins with our key projects. The awards celebrate the positive contribution that design excellence can bring to any community and complement BDP’s design ethos of Creating Places for People."
