Blackpool to host 2014 Civic Trust Awards Ceremony
Posted on 2nd December 2013
The 55th annual Civic Trust Awards Ceremony will be held at The Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Friday 7th March 2014, supported by Blackpool Council and The Winter Gardens Trust.
The prestigious event will see hundreds of leading international architects and built environment professionals gather in Blackpool for a gala dinner and awards presentation. The Civic Trust Awards, established in 1959, celebrates the best in architecture, urban design, planning, landscape, public realm and public art projects that are sustainable, accessible to all users and make a difference to local communities by providing the design and facilities which have made better places for people.
The event will be preceded by a series of guided walking tours for attendees, providing a wonderful opportunity for people to visit Blackpool Tower and the Tower Ballroom together with the recently completed promenade regeneration works including the Comedy Carpet, a public artwork that celebrates the work of more than 1,000 comedians and comedy writers dating from the early days of variety to the present day.
Malcolm Hankey, Civic Trust Awards Managing Director said “We are delighted to be able to take the Civic Trust Awards Ceremony back to Blackpool and would like to thank Blackpool Council and The Winter Gardens Trust who have offered their full support.”
Cllr. Simon Blackburn from Blackpool Council said “Having attended last year’s ceremony in Cardiff to collect not one, but two commendations, I was really pleased to hear that we’d secured the event for Blackpool in 2014. Quality should be at the heart of everything we build, and recognising quality is an important way to support that agenda. As a town where, physically, so much has changed in the last few years, we look forward to welcoming delegates and giving them a taste of seaside hospitality!”
Tickets will go on sale in January 2014 and more details can be obtained by email toinfo@civictrustawards.org.uk
